Block Adult Websites

If you have a kid in your home who uses the internet, you’d be retarded not to install some type of filtering software to block adult websites. This is something that several companies make a mint off of by selling such stuff. I think that’s a bunch of bullshit though. Adult content filtering should be something that’s available for FREE. And, it is. If you so choose, you don’t even have to install any additional software on your computer. Microsoft Windows has built-in filtering options.

So, if some douche-nozzles are trying to sell you something to block adult sites, tell them to go fuck themselves. Here’s a couple ways of blocking adult websites that won’t cost you a dime:

1. Install and use the freely available ParentalControl Bar. I tested this thing out myself and it works like a charm and is real easy to use. It’s a toolbar that works with Internet Explorer 5.5+, Firefox 1.5+, and Safari 10.4+. Yuppers, even you Apple users are taken care of by this one.

2. Use Microsoft’s Content Advisor. This is a feature of Internet Explorer, so you don’t have to install anything. Here’s a link to the guide from Microsoft that explains how to do this:

Browse the Web with Internet Explorer 6 and Content Advisor

That guide is for Internet Explorer 6, but I imagine the process is the same for Internet Explorer 7. If I’m wrong, send me a link that has the info for IE7.

Here’s a handful of useful links for parents:
